Message from the Director
I am Nobuaki Otsuki, and I have just become the director of the Center for Research & Development of Educational Technology of Tokyo Institute of Technology since April 2005, replacing Professor Hiromitsu Muta (Dean, Graduate School of Decision Science and Technology).
CRADLE was established in 1973 as a center for research on educational technology, and it celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2004.
The Center aims at conducting research and development to improve education, chiefly higher education, through educational technology and putting into practice the fruits of the studies. It has been a pioneer in distance education for adults since 1995, when ANDES (Academic Network for Distance Education by Satellite) was established. In 2002, it also started "High school-University Collaboration Project", which is designed to transmit lectures at Tokyo Institute of Technology to high schools all over the country, and "International Distance Education" to transmit lectures of Graduate Schools at Tokyo Institute of Technology to graduate schools overseas. Also, it has good relationships and programs with the Educational Planning Office and the International Planning Office. These programs have enabled the distribution of current education at Tokyo Institute of Technology to the rest of Japan and to the world. Additionally, it is actively extending cooperation in evaluation projects for the improvement of education within the institute.
We hope you will visit our web site, where such achievements of CRADLE have been introduced, and give us your comments.
The members of CRADLE are determined to unite our efforts to contribute to the studies of educational technology for the enrichment of higher education, evaluation and improvement of higher education, and the development of cooperative relationship with higher education institutes overseas. We solicit continued cooperation and support from all parties concerned.
